how tragic
4-May-2010
What a weekend, thanks to everyone who came out to my senior show on friday, it couldn't have been a better expirience. One thing that everybody especialy seemed to like was a small set of postcards that I had made, which happens to be what this little post is about. How Tragic is a set of 24 hand screen printed postcards that I made. They come lightly bound in a sweet little book, and can be pulled out and sent through the post. I made about 40 of them alltogether, and most of them I am sending to close friends, family, a couple of proffesors, publishers, magazines, and other people that have helped me out with things through my college career. However, I will be putting a very limited number (about 10) up in the store on saturday so if you want to get your hands on a copy act quick. Below are a few photos of the process and finished product, and as usual you can find even more shots on the flickr.

chocolart
30-April-2010
Chocolate + art = chocolart. My boss came up with this crazy idea to wrap locally made chocolate in limited edition letterpress art prints. You eat the chocolate and then you get to keep a print to pin to your wall, absolutely brilliant. Watkins college here in Nashville is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and they commissioned Bryce McCloud over at the Isle of Printing to put together a few hundred of these bars for an event. Because I attend this particular institution (not for long) they asked me to create some artwork for said chocolate bars and I was happy to oblige (I got free chocolate out of the deal). So here it is, 2 color letterpress print (printed by Bryce McCloud on a vandercook proof press) wrapped around chocolate made by local chocolate company Olive & Sinclair
In other news, I am graduating in a few days (finaly), and my graphic design senior show is tomorrow at Terazzo downtown from 6-9pm you can find all of the details at designfightershow.com.
thats all for now

my newest toy
27-April-2010
So I was on craigslist the other day, and I found this old manual 19 inch challenge paper cutter for super cheap. So I drove myself down to chattanooga and picked it up. It weighs a good 300 pounds so I wanted to make sure I found the perfect spot for it in the shop before I moved it in. It sat in the back of my car ruining my gas milage for an entire month, but it is finally moved in and I got to use it today. It works awesome, but more importantly it looks like a massive tonka truck.

store is open
28-December-2009
Today all of your problems in life have been solved, because the new snowcatpress.com store is open! If you look there are already all kinds of things in the store, posters, prints, and even some t-shirts. I will be updating it regularly so keep checking back.
I tried selling stuff on etsy and a couple other site before this and it was just never really what I wanted. So I finaly buckled down and just built my own store for the site. The payment side of it is all handled with paypal, so you can use your paypal acount or just pay with credit if you do not have an account with paypal, but it is all secure which is awesome because I have had my credit info stollen online before.

timbre patches
21-December-2009
Made some patches for Timbre to take on her next short tour. They were actually supposed to be finished in time to sell at the christmas show, but as I mentioned previously, I was super super busy at the time and did not have a chance to get them done. It always bums me out if I cant get a job done on time, even if I was given an unrealistic deadline to start with. I have a number of people in my life who give me ridiculous deadlines and expect me to have things done on time, I am not saying that timbre is one of those people she actually gave me ample time to do my job on this occasion, but there were a bunch of other people in the last month that expected me to work with silly time frames. I met almost every one of them but because of that I was forced to be late on this job for timbre and a couple of others.
There is no real moral to this story, I guess just more then anything I am expressing some frustration about the life of a freelance designer/ printer. By the way if you are reading this and you want me to work for you, I would love to, but just contact me and lets get the ball rolling within a realistic timeframe.

pretty busy
13-December-2009
So yeah, I've been super busy lately, but things are just starting to slow down and I feel like I can relax again. The Fall harvest art show was fun the two prints on the right are from that group show. Thank you to everyone that showed up and bought some stuff from me, that was pretty awesome. I got to do a poster for the mountain goats and final fantasy at the mercy lounge, that was a really good night, final fantasy was amazing. Then of course the annual timbre christmas show poster, one of my favorite jobs every year. It is fun to see how much my art and printing has progressed from one timbre poster to the next.
There are some really cool things on the horizon that I am looking forward to, but the biggest bit of news (for all you folks that keep emailing me about buying posters) I will be launching a store here in the website in the next week or so. It will be a nice centralized place where you can buy poster, prints, shirts, and anything else I decide to put my hands to. I am excited about it and you should be too.

fall harvest art show
15-October-2009
So I'm going to be in an art show. October 23rd over at bill-ups art gallery in east nashville. I am incredibly unprepaired for this and I'm going to have to pull a rabit out of a hat to get stuff done before the event. But there will be beer, bands, art, and a hoedown with the legendary hogslop string band, It is going to be a really good night.
In other news, I added a couple new posters to the gallery, so have a look. Also I just got interviewed by Guardien of Bravery Magazine for a special issue they are doing on poster artists, so check back and I'll be sure to post a link to it or something.

mc grizz cd sleeves
7-October-2009
My pal mc grizz was going out on the road for a couple weeks of touring with the "come and live" fellas, so I made him a handful of cd sleeves to take on the road (50 red ones and 10 black ones to be exact). The sleeves came from stump town printers in portland, they come out of the box flat and blank and are super easy to print on (and relatively inexpensive), They also fold together without any glue at all which is a great way to waste long hours on the road. I'm a big fan of them. So you can see some process pics below

sunn o))) poster
28-September-2009
So after three long days I finally finished the Sunn O))) poster. This was the first time I had printed a poster full size (18x24 inches) so I had a lot of mistakes along the way that I had to adjust to and fix. It is a four color print and it is definitely one of the more detailed things that I have done in a while. I also posted up a bunch of process pics on my flickr so you can kind of watch the whole process, and catch a few glimpses of the new studio as well.

new studio etc.
1-September-2009
I've had a lot going on the last couple of weeks. I finaly got to move the studio out of the attic and into its own dedicated space. It is less then a mile from my house which is really nice. It just feels good to wake up in the morning and go somewhere besides the attic. I will post pictures of the space when it is all done coming together.
I designed and printed a poster for good ol' Micah Tawlks a couple of weeks ago. You can see that beautiful image there to the right. It was my first attempt printing a fade that large, all things considered I think it turned out pretty dang well, but I used a freakin ton of ink.
Other things on the horizen: I'm doing a poster for the Sunn O))) show here in town. Also gearing up for an art show that I'm going to be in, home-brewed beer, art, and hip hop all in one place. Oct 23rd mark your calendars

snowcatpress 2.0 launch
14-August-2009

Well, this new web site is a long time coming. It has been in the works for quite a while now, and I am quite excited to present it to everybody for the first time. Snowcat Press 2.0 There is new work you can see in every section of the gallery, and all kinds of new info and pictures in the about section. I had two main reasons for building this site, the first of which is coding. Thanks to good ol' Steve I have learned how to code things in a much more stable way that lends itself to faster load times and better overall stability. Second, I really needed something that was simple to update so that I would do it more often, the old one was just a huge hassle. Third this site looks about 10 times more killer then the old one did, I mean it has a freakin' slide show on the front page... welcome to the future! enjoy
